For the 16th year, Asian Pacific filmmakers are making their presence felt throughout Park City with a wide range of remarkable films and creative projects at the 2020 Sundance and Slamdance Film Festivals. As we kick off 2020 and as the New American Majority continues to rise, questions of “who gets to tell whose story,” persist in myriad ways. One vital shift in our field is to increase the number of people of color in positions of power: decision makers in programming, funding, marketing/publicity and distribution. This panel will explore the changes that have taken place recently, reflect on panelists’ own experiences and roles addressing the field even as filmmakers of color are becoming more recognized and supported.
