VC acts as fiscal sponsor for numerous independent film projects and continues to be a resource for Asian American filmmakers in Los Angeles. Filmmakers may apply to VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS for non-profit sponsorship of their project.

Most funding organizations require applicants to have non-profit status to receive grants from foundations, corporations and government agencies.  Additionally tax-deductible contributions from individuals to a project can only be made to organizations with non-profit tax exempt 501 (c) 3 status. Fiscal sponsorship allows your non-commercial project to apply for funds from these funding sources. The fiscal agent “sponsor” takes legal and fiduciary responsibility for your project and insures that the funds are used for charitable activities. In return, Visual Communications as the sponsor, receives and administers the grants and donations made in the name of the producer’s project, taking a small administration fee.

With “sponsored” projects, VC will not serve as the producer, fundraiser or have any say to the contents or actual production of your project. Fiscal sponsorship does not provide grants or do research for individual project funding.

All artistic and propriety rights, title, interest in and to the completed project will belong to the Project Director and may be copyrighted in Project Director’s name.
