Storytelling Builds Solidarity: Stop Anti-Asian Hate and Violence
/Created by a group of artists and filmmakers to organize and empower communities through media, Visual Communications has been dedicated to the honest and accurate portrayals of the Asian American & Pacific Islander people and communities for over 50 years.
In 2020, Visual Communications began renewing our programming and organizational values to encompass restorative practices that create systemic change. In our renewal journey, we have reflected on our role in building solidarity in response to anti-Asian violence. VC believes in the power of storytelling to develop cross-cultural connections necessary for dismantling white supremacy.
As racial and sexual violence rages on against Asian, Black, Indigenous, Women, LGBTQ+, and People of Color, we share with you mediaworks from the 39th edition of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and a short guide to resources from organizations that directly working to heal and empower our community members.
And when you’re ready, we urge you to pick up a camera and tell stories that deconstruct the foundation of white supremacy.

Stand Against Hatred: This website is made available by Asian Americans Advancing Justice to document hate and to educate about the environment of hate around the country.
Stop AAPI Hate: The center tracks and responds to incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning, and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
Asian Mental Health Collective: The Asian Mental Health Collective aspires to make mental health easily available, approachable, and accessible to Asian communities worldwide. NAPAWF Anti-Asian Harassment and Violence Information: The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) works to build a movement for social, political, and structural change for Asian American and Pacific Islander women and girls.
