Visual Communications a Recipient of the Sundance Institute Respond and Reimagine Plan

Visual Communications is grateful to be a recipient of the Sundance Institute Respond and Reimagine Plan, which has provided funds to directly support independent artists and organizations from around the world. In response to the impacts of COVID-19, the Fund aims to support artists from historically marginalized communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

The funding will support Visual Communications’ ongoing programs such as the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, the Armed With a Camera Fellowship for Emerging Artists, and our Digital Histories program for older adults.

Sundance Institute is providing 39 non-recoupable grants totaling $405,500 to organizations based and working in 19 countries around the world. In a direct response to the current global crisis, their goal is to extend these flexible funds to storytelling organizations and artist collectives that perform an integral role in their communities. The grants may be used to support artists and/or to strengthen the organizations themselves in their ongoing work.

To select these grantees, Sundance Institute solicited nominations from a network of peer arts organizations, funders, and Sundance Institute alumni artists -- a broad cross-section of expertises across media, arts, racial justice, theatre, humanities, philanthropic, social science, and human rights organizations.
